The Federal Council for Sustainable Development is organising a webinar on the recommendations for a climate-resilient Europe on Monday 15 June from 2 pm to 3 pm. The webinar will be held in English without simultaneous interpretation.

Professor Suraje Dessai, lead author of the report and vice-chair of the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change, will present the recent study on how Europe can better adapt to climate change.

The European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change is an independent group of 15 experts that advises European institutions on climate policy. It was established in 2021 under the European Climate Law.

Once again, a report confirms that Europe is not yet sufficiently prepared for climate change. Adaptation is happening too little, too slowly and in too fragmented a manner. What is holding back better climate adaptation? And what concrete steps can Europe and the Member States take?

The advisory board makes five clear recommendations to improve EU policy. At the same time, it remains important to reduce emissions: adaptation alone is not enough.

During the webinar, Professor Dessai will explain the key insights and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions.

This webinar will be chaired by Professor Jean-Pascal van Ypersele, chair of the CFDD-FRDO ‘Energy and Climate’ working group.
